I have been training at Sweaty Training since 2017. Throughout these years, I have had the opportunity to work with other trainers as well but my training experience with Jeff has improved my performance and and off the ice. Since I have been training with Jeff I have been able to train in an environment where I can trust that I will improve my strength and conditioning. Sweaty Training has a positive atmosphere which makes me enjoy going to my training sessions. I have known Jeff since I was 14 and this allows my training to be specific to my needs.
Jeff pushes me to be my best and my strongest and that is why I choose to train at SWEATY.

Sweaty Training and Conditioning has definitely elevated my abilities as a sprinter, in only a summer of working with them.
The program’s track-tailored workouts, focusing on strength, injury prevention, explosiveness etc. have transformed me into a more well-rounded and confident athlete. With Jeff’s expertise and the dynamic training offered by Sweaty Training and Conditioning, I have seen significant improvements in my sprinting performance.

- Highschool varsity team won provincials 2022.
- Providence Pilots team finished 5th at best of the west in 2023.
I am currently a setter for the SRSS varsity volleyball team. I’ve played club for the Jr Pilots for the last 5 years. I first started training at Sweaty with Tessa 2 years ago, near the end of Covid.
Training at Sweaty with Tessa has greatly improved my vertical, and my overall strength (upper body, core, lower body, etc.). This has helped me with my overall game and I’ve really improved over this span.
Taylor Friesen
- WHL Referee
- RBC Cup Champion (2015); 2 time MJHL Champion (2013 & 2015)
Taylor has been training with with SWEATY for years now. Starting when he was playing Junior hockey, to recently transitioning into a new role as a WHL Referee.
Taking a bit of a break from training after Junior hockey, Taylor is
after a new pursuit aiming to climb the ranks as an official.
Realizing the fitness requirements to keep up with the pace of play as
he reaches higher levels of the game, brought him back to SWEATY in 2022 to ensure he has the physical capacity to reach his goals.

“I’ve been training with Jeff since the summer of 2018, it has been a great experience. With the new gym he’s moved into in 2019 it has been awesome. Sweaty Training has made some great changes within their gym
for hockey and sports training in general. Jeff has been great with me over that last few years as I get older and change into my bigger body with helping me with my speed that I needed to work on, along with my strength as I move up and play with older players. Since I’ve been with Jeff he’s helped me move from AA Blizzard hockey to Prep hockey for the Rink Hockey Academy in Winnipeg and now into Jr A hockey as well as
earning a NCAA scholarship to the University of St. Thomas.”

“I found Jeff and Sweaty Training & Conditioning when I realized I needed guidance with incorporating strength training with my marathon training. In a little under a year, I’ve been able to increase my total body strength and stay injury-free with my marathon training. My
strength training routine has played a major role in this. I love coming to the gym and seeing the diversity of athletes coming through their doors. It feels great to be part of such a welcoming community”.

“Working with Jeff at SWEATY Has been excellent the past couple of years, the attention to detail and the quality that goes into the training, The sport specific exercises, and the knowledge that he has about any health or fitness question i’ve asked is better than any other gym I’ve experienced. It’s really helped me improve on speed and strength over the course of the off-season and I would recommend it to anybody that would want sport specific training or just to stay in shape.”

We compete in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). I started working out with Jeff’s guidance at Sweaty Training and Conditioning when I finished bantam hockey after playing for the southwest jets bantam AA team. I then went on to play for the Eastman selects city midget, as well as the provincial travel team, both with Jeff as our trainer. After midget hockey I started my junior career in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, playing for the “Iron Horse” Kindersley Klippers in the SJHL. After my rookie season I got traded to the West Kelowna Warriors of the BCHL, which can only be described as a dream season. That season we won the Fred Page cup (BCHL), the Western Canada cup (Westerns), as well as the RBC cup (Canadian Championship). The beginning of the next season I was traded up to Prince George in the BCHL, and played for the Spruce Kings where it was by far my best season as an individual, where I lead all defenseman in goals scored, as well as top 5 in points by d-man. I was able to earn a commitment to LSSU and achieve my dream of playing division 1 hockey. I have nothing but good things to say about being a client at Sweaty Training and Conditioning. I have always gone back to Jeff every summer to be able to work on what I needed to accomplish and grow as a player and an individual. He always was understanding with what I wanted to work on, and always had a rock solid foundation, and program that helped me achieve my goals. I would not be where I am today, without Jeff’s leadership and friendship. I highly encourage people that want to work to achieve their goals, and to pursue their dreams, to go see Jeff and let Sweaty Training and Conditioning, push you and help you become the player, and person, you want to be.

I’ve been playing hockey ever since I was young and always knew I wanted to play at a high level. As I grew older I realized one of my goals was to play university hockey. Throughout my teenage years, the game started to get more competitive and I knew that I needed to do something to improve my game to help me reach my goal of playing on a university hockey team. That’s when I turned to Jeff and have been working with him ever since. With Jeff’s knowledge and expertise, he was able to provide me with excellent programs throughout the summers I spent training with him. He was willing to do everything in his power to help me achieve my goals. He made me stronger and faster off the ice which ultimately made me a better hockey player on the ice. Jeff always creates a great environment every time I step into the gym and is driven to make players better. He has helped me flourish as a player and have the ability to compete at a high level. I can proudly say Jeff was a large part in my success of becoming a university athlete!
